Thank you for visiting our site, we are excited you are here!

Bale Craft emerged from designers who are deeply invested in respecting and working with our natural environment. We have the privilege of living, working, and learning in the traditional homelands of the Anishinaabek, the Ojibwe (Chippewa), Odawa (Ottawa), and Bodewadomi (Potawatomi) people who lived on and stewarded the land now known as the Great Lakes for hundreds of years before settlers created the colonial state which now allows us to live, harvest, and build upon the land.

Ellis is the most passionate person you'll ever meet. An architectural designer and fabricator who never stops thinking about how to make the building industry a sustainable place.

Sophie is a stellar designer who integrates people, homes, and landscapes through a fun and delicate balance. Farmer and designer.

Joe is the goat - living in and designing straw bale homes for himself and others. He is an exceptional farmer, art professor, and a builder.

Aldo comes with many skills - grant writer expert, logistical thinker and planner, and a talented sourdough father.

Jacob is a trained electrician but also a permaculture educated human.
