Vernacular Forms

Vernacular Forms is an ongoing Research / design project. It draws inspiration from the farm houses, barns, and structures along the spacious farmlands and spectacular shorelines in Northern Michigan. Many of these structures were built over 100 years ago, and still stand as examples of how simple, compact, and durable early stick-built Michigan structures can be. We really don’t need much more than what these buildings have to offer. Just insulation. So we used 3D scanning technology to scan existing buildings, and panelized them into S-SIP structures.

Sometimes you don’t need to reinvent the wheel; just the spokes.
